The Commerce Department of the ISC wing at Hiranandani Foundation School (HFS), Powai, partnered with La Martiniere Girls (LMG) Kolkata for a memorable student exchange program. From November 10th to 14th, 10 ISC Commerce students from HFS had the opportunity to engage with LMG students, gaining valuable exposure to diverse learning methods and the unique lifestyle of a boarding school. This initiative aimed to foster cultural openness and encourage a liberal mindset among the participants. The exchange program was designed to align with the educational values and principles shared by both institutions.
The carefully curated 3-day itinerary began with a visit to iconic Kolkata landmarks, including St. Paul's Cathedral and the Birla Planetarium. The program also featured an interactive session with Mrs. Roopkatha Sarkar, Principal of LMG, alongside HFS Principal Mrs. Kalyani Patnaik, where students engaged in activities related to the Commerce Department. On the second day, the group visited Kumartoli, a historic artisan hub, where they learned about the skilled craftsmanship of Kolkata’s traditional artisans. The day ended with ice-breaking activities and games with the boarding students, focusing on commerce-related themes.
On the third day, students toured the Government Central Food Laboratory Organization (CFLO), gaining insights into India's food regulation processes. They also visited a factory to learn about the challenges of setting up a business and explored brick-making techniques using materials from demolished buildings. The exchange concluded with a fun-filled basketball match followed by dinner. The cultural exchange culminated in a picnic at Eco Park, where students enjoyed the recreated Seven Wonders of the World. The program was a great success, fostering both personal and academic growth for all involved.
Mrs. Kalyani Patnaik, Principal of Hiranandani Foundation School, Powai added her views on the student exchange program with La Martiniere Girls, Kolkata, as a great success. "It provided our students with valuable cultural exposure and learning experiences, enhancing their global awareness and broadening their perspectives.
